Ovula (Simnia) subtruncata was named by Johnson (1899). Its type specimen is ANSP 9452, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Neosimnia (Neosimnia) subtruncata by Schilder (1932); it was recombined as Neosimnia subtruncata by Palmer (1937); it was recombined as Simnia subtruncata by Perrilliat et al. (2003).

Smooth with numerous fine revolving lines around the angular or subtruncated posterior, posterior canal extending beyond the truncated portion forming a deep excavation, lip thin, but in a more adult specimen would probably be much thicker. Length 15 mm., greatest diam. 4.5 mm. |
