Taxonomy
Ovula (Simnia) subtruncata was named by Johnson (1899). Its type specimen is ANSP 9452, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Neosimnia (Neosimnia) subtruncata by Schilder (1932); it was recombined as Neosimnia subtruncata by Palmer (1937); it was recombined as Simnia subtruncata by Perrilliat et al. (2003).

K. V. Palmer 1937Shell elongate, subtrimeate, resembling somewhat the recent O. uniplicata Sowerby, of Florida. Smooth with numerous fine revolving lines around the angular or subtruncated posterior, posterior canal extending beyond the truncated portion forming a deep excavation, lip thin, but in a more adult specimen would probably be much thicker. Length 15 mm., greatest diam. 4.5 mm.
