Taxonomy
Paraxestops stehlini was named by Hoffstetter (1962). Its type specimen is NHMB fig. 1C and plate VI, fig. 2 in Hoffstetter 1962 (frontal) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mormont Entreroches, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial horizon in Switzerland.
It was recombined as Xestops stehlini by Meszoely et al. (1978).
