Pituriaspis was named by Young (1991) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Pituriaspida.

It was assigned to Pituriaspida by Young (1991); to Pteraspidomorphi by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pituriaspididae by van der Laan (2019).
