Taxonomy
Ammonites buvignieri was named by d'Orbigny (1844). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.R01547, a partial shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Oxynoticeras buvignieri by Pia (1914); it was recombined as Radstockiceras buvignieri by Bremer (1965); it was recombined as Carixiceras buvigneri by Edmunds et al. (2003).
