Pulchrilamina was named by Toomey and Ham (1967) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren O Llvi]. It is the type genus of Pulchrilaminidae.
It was assigned to Stromatoporoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pulchrilaminidae by Stearn et al. (1999), Webby (2015).
