Taxonomy
Promoschorhynchus platyrhinus was named by Brink (1954). Its type specimen is BP/1/192, a partial skull (Snout), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wilgerbosch, New Bethesda, which is in a Wuchiapingian/Changhsingian terrestrial horizon in South Africa.
It was synonymized subjectively with Moschorhinus kitchingi by Kitching (1977).
