Trivia juliae was named by Dolin (1991). Its type specimen is USNM 442674, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 825 - Farley Creek, which is in a Burdigalian marine marl/sandstone in the Chipola Formation of Florida.
