Taxonomy
Tropidoceras atuelense was named by Hillebrandt (2006). Its type specimen is TUB 8321206/3/4, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Puesto Araya (T. atuelense horizon, sample 831206/3), which is in an Ibex carbonate limestone in Argentina.
