Taxonomy
Eocypraea cotteri was named by Cox (1930). Its type locality is Hangu Shales - Samana Range, Pakistan, which is in a Selandian/Thanetian marginal marine shale in the Hangu Formation of Pakistan.

It was recombined as Eocypraea (Eocypraea) cotteri by Schilder (1941).
