Taxonomy
Sphaerodactylus dommeli was named by Bohme (1984). Its type specimen is ZFMK 66238, a partial skeleton (amber-embedded articulated specimen preserving the integument and nearly complete cranial and postcranial elements, tail vertebrae missing, possibly due to rege), and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber, La Toca (Work collection), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian fluvial-deltaic shale/amber in the El Mamey Formation of the Dominican Republic.
