Taxonomy
Nautilus izumoensis was named by Yokoyama (1913). It is the type species of Nautilus.

It was recombined as Eutrephoceras izumoensis by Kummel (1956); it was recombined as Mizuhobaris izumoensis by Noda et al. (1986).
