Limnophis crassus
Taxonomy
Limnophis crassus was named by Marsh (1871). Its type specimen is YPM 531, a set of vertebrae (single cervical vertebra), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Marsh's Fork (Lower Bridger), which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Lestophis.
It was recombined as Lestophis crassus by Marsh (1885), Hay (1902), Hay (1930).
