Taxonomy
Trupetostroma was named by Parks (1936) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi-u D Fras-m Sepkoski's reference number: 363]. It is the type genus of Trupetostromatidae.
It was assigned to Hermatostromatidae by Stearn (1996); to Stromatoporoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Trupetostromatidae by Stearn et al. (1999), Stearn (2015).
