Taxonomy
Prionocycloceras obatai was named by Futakami (1991). Its type specimen is NSM PM9578, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ki607, Roku-no-sawa stream, which is in a Coniacian marine siltstone in Japan.
