Crioceras astierianum was named by d'Orbigny (1841). It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Pictetia.
It was recombined as Pictetia astierianum by Wright et al. (1996); it was recombined as Pictetia astieriana by Rodda and Murphy (1992), Hoffmann et al. (2013).
