Taxonomy
Machaeroprosopus lottorum was named by Hungerbühler et al. (2013). Its type specimen is TTU-P10076, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TTU VPL 3870, which is in a Norian channel sandstone/mudstone in the Cooper Canyon Formation of Texas.
