Nautilus farringdonensis was named by Sharpe (1854). It is a mold. Its type locality is Boutcher's pit, Farringdon, which is in an Aptian marine gravel in the Faringdon Sand Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Anglonautilus farringdonensis by Lehmann et al. (2017).
