Coccoderma was named by Zittel (1887) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-l Sepkoski's reference number: 863,1066]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Coelacanthidae by Woodward (1891); to Coelocanthiformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Laugiidae by Lambers (1991), Forey (1998), Schultze (2004), Wendruff and Wilson (2013).
