Diplocercides was named by Stensio (1922) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fras-m C Vise-u Sepkoski's reference number: 2,1066]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Diplocercidae.
It was assigned to Actinistia by Forey (1998); to Coelocanthiformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Diplocercididae by van der Laan (2019).
