Ancilla buccinoides was named by Lamarck (1802). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grignon (Lamarck collection), which is in a Lutetian open shallow subtidal sandstone/sandstone in France.
It was recombined as Spirancilla buccinoides by Pacaud et al. (2013).
