Taurispongia tenuis was named by Senowbari-Daryan and Link (2016). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tilkideligi Tepe, Southern Anatolia, Turkey, which is in a Lacian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in Türkiye.
