Taxonomy
Panderichthys was named by Gross (1941) [Sepkoski's age data: D Give D Fame Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Panderichthyidae.

It was assigned to Coelocanthiformes by Sepkoski (2002); to Panderichthyinae by Borgen and Nakrem (2016); and to Panderichthyidae by van der Laan (2019).
