Andreolepis was named by Gross (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ludl-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Andreolepidae.
It was assigned to Palaeonisciformes by Sepkoski (2002); to Osteichthyes by Long (2011); to Osteichthyes by Nelson et al. (2016); and to Andreolepididae by van der Laan (2019).
