Taxonomy
Haplolepis was named by Miller (1892) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Mecolepis corrugatus.

It was assigned to Palaeoniscidae by Hay (1902); to Haplolepidae by Westoll (1944); and to Palaeonisciformes by Sepkoski (2002).
