Taxonomy
Micromphalites elegans was named by Arkell (1952). Its type specimen is SM F10789, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 17, Juraifa area (Aramco S-1241), which is in a Bathonian carbonate limestone in the Dhruma Formation of Saudi Arabia.
