Taxonomy

Ammonites (Ceratites) achelous was named by Munster (1834). Its type specimen is BSPG AS VII 413 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is St. Cassian (Munster coll), which is in a Julian carbonate limestone in the Cassian Formation of Italy.

It was recombined as Ceratites achelous by Münster (1841); it was recombined as Klipsteinia achelous by von Mojsisovics (1882), Spath (1951), Urlichs (2017).

Goniatites armatus was named by Münster (1841). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is St. Cassian (Munster coll), which is in a Julian carbonate limestone in the Cassian Formation of Italy.

It was recombined as Trachyceras armatum by von Mojsisovics (1882); it was recombined as Rossiceras armatum by Mietto and Manfrin (2008); it was synonymized subjectively with Klipsteinia achelous by Urlichs (2017).
Ammonites hoplophorus was named by Giebel (1852).
