Taxonomy
Hoplitoplacenticeras rarecostatum was named by Khakimov (1976). Its type specimen is SMTSSR 31/1168 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Balazhana, Sangtuda village, which is in a Campanian marine horizon in the Daralitau Formation of Tajikistan.
