Taxonomy
Anchura ainikta was named by Elder and Saul (1996). Its type specimen is USNM 485425, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS M8756, Pigeon Point, which is in a Campanian/Campanian submarine fan sandstone in the Pigeon Point Formation of California.
