Taxonomy
Chauliodus testa was named by Nazarkin (2014). Its type specimen is ZIN 55476 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Penzenskoe, which is in a Miocene/Miocene marine horizon in the Kurasi Formation of the Russian Federation.
