Leptaena euglypha was named by Dalman (1828).

It was recombined as Strophomena euglypha by Davidson (1871); it was recombined as Strophonella (Strophonella) euglypha by Bassett and Cocks (1974); it was recombined as Strophoprion euglypha by Havlicek and Storch (1990).
