Strophomena philomena was named by Billings (1860). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Brachyprion philomena by Twenhofel (1928); it was recombined as Brachyprion (Eomegastrophia) philomena by Dewing (2001); it was misspelled as Brachyprion (Eomegastrophia) philomela by Dewing (1999); it was recombined as Eomegastrophia philomena by Jin and Popov (2008), Gushulak and Jin (2017).
