Orthocormus was named by Weitzel (1930) [Sepkoski's age data: J Kimm-u J Tith-l Sepkoski's reference number: 452,915]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Pachycormiformes by Sepkoski (2002); to Pachycormidae by Friedman et al. (2010) and Maxwell et al. (2020); and to Hypsocorminae by Cooper et al. (2022).
