Taxonomy
Abdobalistum thyrsus was named by Poyato-Ariza and Wenz (2002). Its type specimen is BMNH P 9830, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Monte Bolca (BMNH collection), which is in a Ypresian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in Italy.
