Taxonomy
Plectodonta (Plectodonta) mariae was named by Kozlowski (1929). It is the type species of Plectodonta, Plectodonta (Plectodonta).

It was recombined as Sowerbyella (Plectodonta) mariae by Kupfahl (1952); it was recombined as Plectodonta mariae by Cocks (1970).
