Discussion

West (2015 Treatise: p. 19) concludes that "the fossil genus Chaetetes is treated here as a form genus and its constituent subgenera and species also have the status of form taxa."

Taxonomy
Pseudoseptifer was named by Fischer (1970) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori J Tith-u Sepkoski's reference number: 920]. It is considered to be a form taxon.

It was reranked as Chaetetes (Pseudoseptifer) by Fischer (1970), Beauvais (1980), West et al. (2015).

It was assigned to Chaetetidae by Hill (1981); to Tabulospongida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Chaetetes by Fischer (1970), Beauvais (1980), West et al. (2015).
