Fagesia mortzestus was named by Barroso-Barcenilla and Goy (2009). Its type specimen is TA-S-564 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tamajón (Mammites nodosoides subzone), which is in a Turonian marine horizon in Spain.
