Taxonomy
Zeus lewesiensis was named by Mantell (1822). It is extant.

It was recombined as Hoplopteryx lewesiensis by Woodward (1902), Patterson (1964), Bardack and Teller-Marshall (1982), Ekrt et al. (2008).
