Taxonomy
Trachichthyoides ornatus was named by Woodward (1902). It is extant. Its type locality is Bromley (Bowerbank collection), which is in a Cenomanian/Cenomanian carbonate chalk in the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Trachichthyoides.
