Syodon biarmicum

Taxonomy

Syodon biarmicum was named by Kutorga (1838). Its type specimen is LGU 140/1, a tooth (isolated left canine), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is "Perm Region" mines, Syodon biarmicum holotype site, which is in an Ufimian terrestrial horizon in the Sheshmian Formation of the Russian Federation.

Synonyms

Cliorhizodon orenburgensis was named by Twelvetrees (1880). Its type specimen is BMNH R4077, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kargalinski Mines, PIN 1954, PIN 48, locality 12 of Tverdokhlebov et al. (2005), which is in an Urzhumian deltaic sandstone/conglomerate in the Amanakskaya Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Cliorhizodon.

It was synonymized subjectively with Syodon biarmicum by Battail and Surkov (2000), Ivakhnenko (2003) and Kammerer (2011).
Cliorhizodon efremovi was named by Orlov (1940). Its type specimen is PIN 157/2, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kamenny Ravine (Ulema River), Isheevo, PIN 157, 2207, which is in an Urzhumian/Severodvinian fluvial sandstone/mudstone in the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Syodon efremovi by Ivakhnenko (2003); it was synonymized subjectively with Syodon biarmicum by Battail and Surkov (2000) and Kammerer (2011).
