Taxonomy
Melosaurus kamaensis was named by Gubin (1991). Its type specimen is PIN 683/1, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mamadysh, PIN 683, which is in an Ufimian/Kazanian terrestrial horizon in the Belebey Formation of the Russian Federation.
