Taxonomy
Rhodeus edwardsi was named by Sauvage (1870). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Licata, which is in a Messinian marine horizon in Italy.

It was recombined as Myctophum (Lampanyctus) edwardsi by Arambourg (1925), Arambourg (1927); it was recombined as Myctophum edwardsi by Leonardi (1959); it was recombined as Myctophidarum edwardsi by Schwarzhans (1978); it was recombined as Diaphus edwardsi by Bedini et al. (1986), Gregorova (2004).
