Taxonomy
Aphelesia winebergeri was named by Bitner and Schneider (2009). Its type specimen is BSPG 2007 X 77, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gurlarn, which is in a Burdigalian open shallow subtidal marl in Germany.
