It was assigned to Seriolidae by Jordan (1925); to Perciformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Carangidae by Arambourg (1927), David (1943), Blot (1969), Purdy et al. (2001), Fierstine et al. (2012), Carnevale et al. (2014), Bannikov (2014).
