Fissurella crenulata was named by Sowerby (1825). It is extant. It is the type species of Macrochasma.
It was recombined as Macrochasma crenulata by Dall (1915); it was recombined as Megathura crenulata by Woodring and Bramlette (1950), Hendy (2021).
