Taxonomy

Sigaretus scopulosus was named by Conrad (1849) [m. kosnik taxon no: 10143]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Sinum scopulosus by Durham (1944); it was recombined as Sinum scopulosum by Clark (1918), Stewart (1927), Etherington (1931), Loel and Corey (1932), Woodring and Bramlette (1950), Moore (1963), Addicott (1970), Marincovich (1977) and Hendy (2021).

Synonyms

Sinum planicostum was named by Gabb (1869). Its type specimen is ANSP 4326 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was synonymized subjectively with Sinum scopulosum by Stewart (1927), Addicott (1970) and Marincovich (1977).
Sinum californicum was named by Oldroyd (1917). Its type specimen is LSJU 6446 and is a 3D body fossil.

Sinum (Sigaretus) trigenarium was named by Trask (1922). Its type specimen is UCMP 12386 and is a 3D body fossil.
