Taxonomy
Eodiodon was named by Casier (1952) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m-l Sepkoski's reference number: 915]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Diodontidae.

It was assigned to Eodiodontidae by Tavani (1955); to Tetradontiformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Diodontidae by van der Laan (2019).
