Taxonomy
Trigonia splendida was named by Leanza (1941). It is the type species of Steinmanella (Splenditrigonia).

It was recombined as Steinmanella (Steinmanella) splendida by Reyes and Pérez (1978); it was recombined as Steinmanella (Splenditrigonia) splendida by Leanza (1993); it was recombined as Splenditrigonia splendida by Cooper and Leanza (2017).
