Taxonomy
Nanchangosaurus was named by Wang (1959) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. Its type is Nanchangosaurus suni. It is the type genus of Nanchangosauridae.
It was assigned to Nanchangosauridae by Carroll and Dong (1991); to Notosauria by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hupehsuchia by Chen et al. (2014).
