Taxonomy
Aeolodon was named by von Meyer (1830) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-l Sepkoski's reference number: 620]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Aeolodontini.
It was assigned to Dactylopodes by Meyer (1845); to Crocodilidae by d'Orbigny (1849); to Amphicoelia by Owen (1860), Owen (1861); to Teleosauridae by Carroll (1988); to Crocodilia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Aeolodontini by Young et al. (2024).
