Cucullaea lirata
Taxonomy
Cucullaea lirata was named by Packard (1922). Its type specimen is UCMP 12314 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 2149, Santa Ana Mountains, which is in a Turonian marine horizon in the Ladd Formation of California.
It was recombined as Cucullaea (Idonearca) lirata by Anderson (1958).

Anterior extremity short, evenly rounded; posterior extremity pointed (?), accentuated by a prominent umbonal ridge; ventral margin straight . Umbones small, widely separated by a dorsal area. Posterior dorsal area flat . Shell sculptured by numerous radial striae and prominent cocentric growth lines. Hinge line short, with dentition typical of the genus. Height, 53 mm.; length, 75 mm.; convexity, 28 mm. |
